Pope’s Message on World Day of Peace
Is anyone in the world don’t like ‘peace’ ? Undoubtedly I will say ‘no’. Every human being gives a great position for peace. Yes, it is a pleasant state of life. Even in the midst of war and conflicts all prefers serenity and peace. Pope published his message on World day of peace. He invites everyone to reflect on the theme: The Human Person, the Heart of Peace. Pope says, respect for the person promotes peace and that, in building peace, the foundations are laid for an authentic integral humanism. In this way a serene future is prepared for coming generations. Anything that threatens the traditional family threatens peace, because the family "is the first and indispensable teacher of peace,”. The Pope also said the responsibilities learned and the joys and struggles shared within individual families must be mirrored on a global level because everyone is part of one human family. The pope chose "The Human Family, A Community of Peace" as the theme for 2008, the 40th anniversary of the Catholic Church's celebration of World Peace Day.
Pope’s message have a very significant role in our lives. We have a special call to become peace promoters in this world. Pope’s message has special relevance in India. India is a peace loving country. Our National Father Mahatma Gandhi lit the light of peace in our country. He lived principles of Jesus. Gandhi developed a method of social protest that was based on the principles of non-violence, tolerance, and truth. One cannot hate. Hate is against non-violence, Gandhi told his followers. "Therefore one respects enemies, one teaches them”. In this message Pope points out Gandhi as a model for peace .
Let us act as peace promoters. How? Charity begins at home. Let us do very simple things- saying a kind one to someone, helping a person in need and respecting the environment. A peace promoter is a person or group who works to transform the culture of war and violence to a culture of peace. A peace promoter needs to internalize the attitudes, values, knowledge and abilities of peace.
